Shane is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years’ experience in Internal Audit and Risk. She started her career at Deloitte and having specialised in Financial Services has worked for Bank of New York Mellon, MUFG and FNZ Wealth Management. She is working as a consultant at Grant Thornton LLP, where she is involved in assurance and advisory remediation reviews for clients focused on countering financial crime risk. Shane is also a school board and community governor at a secondary school.
In 2016, Shane’s mother was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Over the last 7 years, she has had various challenging operations and treatments (including chemotherapy and radiotherapy). Shane has been the primary carer and has helped her mother to deal with the ups and downs of her cancer journey. In 2023, her mum got the ‘all clear’ but the experience has highlighted some of the challenges faced by patients and carers in relation to the access to relevant and reliable information. Shane has also witnessed how the right nutrition supported her mother’s immune function and assisted her healing. Shane is deeply passionate about sharing her insights as a cancer carer and supporting others to navigate their cancer journeys and improve outcomes.
